Site Investigation | Technical Proposal to Prevent Excessive Pile Lengths for Small Steel Buildings by Comparing Neighboring Data
By analyzing ground survey and neighboring data, we reduce the excess pile length of small-scale steel buildings. This prevents over-design and balances construction costs with safety.
In steel frame buildings constructed on narrow plots, there is a risk that designers, fearing potential dangers due to insufficient ground investigation data and location restrictions, may fall into "over-design" by extending piles deeper than necessary. Excessive pile lengths lead to increased material costs for steel pipe piles and longer construction durations, putting pressure on the overall construction costs. GeoTech addresses this risk of over-design by integrating space-saving ground investigations conducted in the limited area of the site with a rich database of surrounding ground data. By precisely cross-checking the continuous impact and torque data obtained from on-site investigations with nearby standard penetration test column diagrams, we completely eliminate uncertainty and clearly determine the depth and angle of the bearing layer. We calculate the shortest and optimal pile length on a per-unit basis, directly linked to the load conditions of the superstructure, significantly reducing unnecessary material and construction costs. We propose a highly practical solution that simultaneously establishes structural safety and drastically reduces total construction costs.
